William R. Hudgins, Clarinet

Guest Soloist WILLIAM R. HUDGINS was appointed by Seiji Ozawa as Principal Clarinetist of the Boston Symphony Orchestra and the Boston Symphony Chamber Players in 1994. He has been heard as a soloist with the Boston Symphony Orchestra on numerous occasions, including performances of both Mozart and Copland’s Clarinet Concertos and works by Bruch, Krommer, Martin, and Weber. Past chamber music performances include collaborations with Emanuel Ax, Yo-Yo Ma, Paula Robison, Barbara Bonney, and the Lydian String Quartet.  Mr. Hudgins spent eight seasons with the Saito Kinen Summer Festival Orchestra in Japan and six seasons as a member of both the Spoleto Festival Orchestra in Charleston, South Carolina, and Il Festival dei Due Mondi in Spoleto, Italia. He formerly served as Principal Clarinet with Charleston (SC) Symphony Orchestra and the Orquesta Sinfonica Municipal in Caracas, Venezuela. As summer residents of the Berkshires for some 25 years, Bill and his wife Cathy have been most appreciative of the enduring hospitality and friendship of Christ Trinity Church and Lich Gate Concerts.
