Chris Santos, Cello
CHRIS SANTOS, cellist, began his studies at the age of five and earned a Bachelor of Music in cello performance studying under Peter Stumpf at Indiana University, where he gave multiple recitals and played in numerous chamber groups. As a soloist, Chris most recently won the Woodstock Symphony Orchestra’s Concerto Competition performing Elgar’s Cello Concerto in E Minor on January 11, 2020. He also won the Hudson Valley Philharmonic’s 2016-17 Virtuoso In Progress Concerto Competition performing the third movement of Saint-Saëns Cello Concerto in A Minor with the Hudson Valley Philharmonic. He was the principal cellist in 2017’s New York State School Music Association (NYSSMA) Conference All-State in Rochester, NY. Chris previously studied with Madeleine Golz and has had numerous lessons and coachings with Julia Lichten, Tommy Mesa, and Julian Schwarz.
